The name of our math program is DEEP Math. The program's name describes what it does - it makes students think deeper about the types of problems they are working. You will not find a whole page of the same kinds of problems over and over. In fact, you may find geometry, multi-step word problems, measurement, patterns, and multiplication...all in the same lesson! The reason this works is because we will be practicing these same types of problems every single day. If a child doesn't understand the concept at first, there will be plenty of chances to see and practice it again.
Students will complete an activity problem set in class as practice. They will complete a homework problem set that may be used as a grade. Every 5th lesson is a test on the concepts that have been taught up to that point. Tests will be worth 200 points.
Students will also practice and be tested on addition/subtraction facts as well as multiplication.
